Shooting Stars Graceful Giclee Print in the Etsy Shop!

Giclee Print of Shooting Stars Graceful by Christy Sheeler Artist
Etsy Shop Announcement!

Shooting Stars Graceful
8" x 10" with 1" white border, signed in pencil within white border.
Packaged in a clear cellophane sleeve.

$45.00 plus shipping and handling.

A delicate trio of shooting stars with noses pointing in all directions, these pink beauties have a gentle touch.  This wildflower is one of my favorites as it is for many others as well.  These tiny treasures when bountiful will turn a whole field magenta!  That's one of the awe inspiring things about wildflowers, they spring up where you would least expect and can survive the hardest conditions.

Shooting Stars Graceful Giclee art print comes without a mat.  With a mat, it will slip into a standard 11" x 14" frame.  It's printed with archival grade inks, a quality Giclee print on a textured natural white paper similar to watercolor paper.  This fine art print of the watercolor painting by the same title is available here in my art studio, aka the solarium.  I'm keeping a limited number of prints on hand but I'm able to get a new order of prints within a short amount of time.  I package and ship within 3 to 5 days of receiving the order.

I've got beautiful and unique handmade cards to give as a free perk to every purchase.

I'll be back in a few days with a new post...hoping to have new watercolor paintings in progress this week!  We took the kayaks out on Lake Francis yesterday...I sat at the picnic table with my travel art kit and there's now one more quick watercolor painting in the sketchbook!

Right now, my garden could use some TLC and I still haven't picked up tomato plants to add to the raised beds!  Our summer routine is still not really a routine at all!  My uninterrupted time seems to come in short supply.  I'm trying to find a balance in it all.

A Vintage Tractor, Society6 & My Sketchbook

This Week in the Watercolor Studio

The studio has been a busy!  The flow of activity is not smooth; adaptive and flexible describes my energy.  While plenty has been happening, the vintage tractor has not had any work done since last Friday.  I'm feeling less focused on writing for today but I do want to share, so bear with me, please.

Update 3/30/16:  I've just realized perhaps I have more to share about this watercolor painting.  I attempted to build a graphic last week but just wasn't happy with the results at that time.  It's all working together much better today.  While preparing to add the graphic at left, I noticed the photographs taken while sketching out the tractor.  With a more detailed subject that needs more accuracy, I take more time to make sure the proportions are correct.  In the coming weeks, I'll prepare to share how I begin a drawing and what tools & tricks help guide the process.  Stay tuned!  Another lightbulb moment!!  I hope you enjoy reading and seeing all I bring to share here along the way.

Once begun, the watercolor painting of the vintage tractor moved along quickly.   Within two days, a lot of change took place.  Masking fluid was used to preserve the fine lines on the radiator.  I mistakenly called it a grill while talking about it previously.  Silly me!  I worked on it up until last Friday.  Sadly, it's taking a backseat to other things for now.

Even at this point in the progress of this watercolor painting, there is quite a bit of interest in this painting!  I've had some questions about whether it will be available for sale when complete.  Yes, it will be available to purchase!  Please feel free to contact me for more information.

Painting the Shooting Stars

Spring is finally here!  The shooting stars said so.

Shooting stars blooming abundantly with a few Indian paintbrush

It’s spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you’ve got it, you want — oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so! ~Mark Twain

The color and size of the shooting stars vary.

"Oh, look!  I see them!  Quick, stop, I'll be right back."

These words are followed by me grabbing my camera and jumping out of the car.  I wander the roadside ditch for the next 15 minutes, searching for the best and brightest blooms.  Aware that my family is patiently waiting for me during a pause in our drive to wherever we are heading today.  This has been our habit for so long that no one complains; there's no impatience because this is our normal.  I can pass up boutiques and coffee shops but I brake for wildflowers.  For me, nature sends delightful little messengers of spring in the grassy wet areas.  I glance around for the amount of standing water, hoping to keep my feet dry.  It may sound crazy but I'm like a child at a parade, watching for candy to be tossed my way.  That's how it is for me while I'm anticipating the growing season for each wildflower.  This vivid fuchsia flower on slender stem has a lovely scent, as gentle and pleasing as lilacs or roses but still distinctly different.
